Get Driving Lessons - Increase Your Employment Prospects

Knowing how to drive a four
wheeled vehicle is a very
important skill because it is
difficult to imagine getting
about without a vehicle. Apart
from the convenience of driving a vehicle without
having to depend on others,
you'll also realize that your job
prospects improve as soon as
you pick up this skill.
Therefore, you need to start taking driving lessons at the
earliest if you do not know
how to drive as of now. The
economy is still in a very bad
shape and you cannot really
afford to pass up on any jobs that you might have otherwise
found interesting or
rewarding. Certain professions require you
to know how to operate
specific vehicles. You'll need to
take driving lessons to operate
large trucks in order to get
work as a trucker. You cannot operate one of these enormous
vehicles just on the basis of
having a regular driving
license because there are many
safety issues at stake here. Surprisingly, not knowing
how to drive a vehicle might
limit your prospects as an
entrepreneur as well. For
instance, you'll need to know
how to drive an ice cream truck in case you wish to start
a mobile ice cream retail
business of your own. This is a
very lucrative profession in
which it is very difficult to fail
because you will always find eager customers waiting to
buy your product. However,
you will only be able to earn
high revenues if you travel
from one place to another in
order to serve a large number of customers. The Department
of Motor Vehicles will give you
the necessary licensing for
operating an ice cream truck
only if you can show that you
have taken driving lessons and passed the right exams. Even a
job as a cab or limo driver
depends on having the correct
license.

Pedestrian Crossings

There are a number of
different types of pedestrian
crossings you will come across
on the road, some more
frequently than others but
nevertheless you should understand all of them and
know what to do at every
type of pedestrian crossing as
it is required for both parts of
your driving test. Currently there are 5 types of
pedestrian crossings and these
are: 1. Zebra - A zebra crossing is marked with white and back
strips on the road, hence the
name zebra, and amber
flashing beacons at either side.
The Highway Code states that
drivers must give way to pedestrians at this, however
pedestrians must remain on
the side of the curb until the
oncoming vehicles have
stopped. A zebra crossing is
the cheapest pedestrian crossing to build and maintain,
however use of these aren't
recommended where the
speed limit is higher that
35mph because when
travelling at higher speeds, it becomes harder for drivers to
see far enough in front to stop
at the crossing. 2. Pelican - A pelican crossing is one of the more common
crossings and this is where
there is a red, amber and green
light facing the drivers and a
red and green man facing
pedestrians. When pedestrians push the button to cross the
lights facing the drivers turns
from green to amber and then
red, and the pedestrians walk
sign turns from red to green.
These crossings are very popular in busy areas as it has
a dual function, it acts as a
pedestrian crossing and a
traffic controller. 3. Puffin - A puffin crossing is similar to a pelican crossing
however the signal indicating
when the pedestrians are able
to cross is located above the
button they press to active the
crossing. This is to encourage pedestrians to face oncoming
traffic and look themselves
instead of relying on the
crossing.

Courier Jobs - To Tip Or Not To Tip

When it comes to service
providers, it is customary in
most parts of the world to tip.
This is because, as a general
rule, this sort of professional
either does not earn a fixed salary or makes minimum
wage, therefore being forced
to rely on tips to improve their
quality of living. But while tipping is generally
encouraged for fast food
delivery, waiting tables, taxi
transfers or even hairdressing,
there is one specific type of
service that gets lost in the shuffle: courier jobs. Should
your 'parcel delivery person'
be tipped in a similar manner
to, say, your hairdresser, or
the waiter at the fancy
restaurant? At first glance, the answer
would appear to be 'yes'. After
all, courier jobs fall in the same
category as services such as
pizza delivery, where tips are
generally accepted as a given. It would seem to stand to
reason that, if you tip someone
who delivers a meal to your
door, so too would you tip
someone who delivers a parcel
to your door. However, in the case of courier
jobs, there are certain
specificities which keep this
practice from being applied as
a rule of thumb, most of which
have to do with drivers' affiliations. While some of the
people performing courier jobs
are freelancers, most are
contracted to a company - and
certain companies forbid their
employees from accepting tips. Therefore, if your driver turns
down a tip, do not think he or
she is being rude or ungrateful
- it may simply be that their
employer does not allow them
to take tips.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Transmission Control Module

In the past, the various factors
related to influencing the
performance of a vehicle, were
determined by a mechanic,
setting air-fuel mixture ratio,
ignition timing and the idling speed. Control of these factors
was by mechanical and
pneumatic methods. Records
show, that one of the earliest
attempts at using automation
for multiple engine control was performed by BMW in
1939. This could be regarded as
the introduction of the Power-
train Control Module (PCM) and
the Transmission Control
Module (TCM). The Grand Cherokee was
produced by Jeep in 1992, with
the intention of replacing the
Cherokee model. However,
due to the increasing consumer
demand in the "SUV" market segment, the producers elected
to retain both models. The
motoring lifestyle has changed
dramatically since those
experimental times, with cost
effectiveness and driving conditions enforcing
manufacturers continually to
upgrade their production
models. This has created a need
for autonomous inter-relation
between the various engine control units, or modules and
the TCM. The concept of this device,
which is located under the
hood on the driver's side of the
Jeep Grand Cherokee, controls
the entire transmission
electronic operation. It is designed to receive
information related to the
operation of the vehicle, from
direct and indirect sources of
input. Based on this
information, it will determine the operating mode of the
transmission and the correct
shift schedule and points, for
the road conditions prevailing
at the time and the demands of
the driver.

Laser Wheel Alignment: Chassis Mounted Vs Wheel Mounted

Laser Wheel Alignment
Systems are a modern
approach to wheel alignment.
Wheel alignment certainly is
one of the most significant
setup parameters for racing cars. You would ask why...
Because even things like
moment center location and
setup balance lose their
importance, compared to
wheel alignment. The alignment package has a
massive amount of influence
on the way that a race car
behaves and performs. One of the most common
questions asked is which is
best - wheel mounted or
chassis mounted lasers?
Answering such a query is not
easy: a more precise question would be which laser wheel
alignment method is better for
accuracy. Then, we would
have to say that the chassis
mounted laser is the right
answer. As to why it is so, please find below... The Wheel Mounted Laser The wheel mounted laser is
very much likely to give
mounting inaccuracies. Even if
the hub or spindle adapter is
flawless, it's still extremely
probable to have a burr on the hub or spindle face. Consider
the following scenario: a
simple piece of silicone 0.010"
thick left on the rear hub face
will throw the laser off by
0.332" by the time it reaches the leading edge of the front
tire. Moreover, once we mount
the laser to the wheel, that
wheel now becomes the
"master" reference point. In
order to apply this method with accuracy, you will have to
first check axle tube
straightness, and then test rear
end placement or wheel
alignment. This rule is valid for
all wheel mounted systems. On the other hand, what is also
true for wheel mounted lasers
is that the further you project
the laser, the more accuracy
you will gain. Still, in case that
your mounting surface and adapters are not absolutely
perfect, you will observe more
inaccuracy again.
